A freshly dug potato patch with garden forks upright in the mud and buckets to the left

Turning over potatoes

A grey start to the day at Wild Acres, but no rain forecast. Definitely needed a fleece today.

I started the day by raking the final bit of meadow that had been cut by the tractor. A small patch was missed so I got the brush cutter out to finish it off. This part of the meadow is rich in cowslips early in the season, but then gets over-run with blackthorn shoots as time goes on. I am reluctant to cut it mid season because cowslip is late seeding so I want to give them a chance.

I then helped the rest of the team dig over a potato patch which is going to be planted with onions over the winter.

I don’t usually get involved with the garden side of things so it made a change to have a bit of banter.

Plate of curry, rice and roasted cabbage
Very tasty curry lunch

Cherie was back after house moving activity and didn’t disappoint with an utterly delicious curry lunch, with all the produce from site. The roasted cabbage was particularly good, as I haven’t cooked that way before.

In the afternoon, it was down to the library for the second Dursley Code Club of the week. A full house of 8 again, and a mixture between Scratch projects and HTML websites. As ever, they get on with their projects and I didn’t intervene at all with some of them, and was very impressed with the game they produced during the hour.
